early? morning, late last night we arrested or oakland p.d. arrested a third suspect who is

a person of interest in this case. currently detectives are over interviewing him, interviewing the suspect to figure out if he is actually the third suspect, but we have reason to believe he is. >> reporter: on tuesday the police arrested two suspecting and first on saturday, a teen coming out of a restaurant at the mall, was approached by three men and then reportedly kicked and punched by the suspects as they stole her purse. >> and one of the girls who was there, so it was really scary, especially knowing someone who was involved in it. >> reporter: in the other case, a woman in her 60s was violently attacked at gun point, again, the suspects going after her high-end purse. the police say that the two teens they arrested tuesday have confessed. >> and during the interviews, they actually admitted their involvement in the crime they were actually apologetic and our detectives actually had them write apology letters to the victims. >> reporter: mall security is tight and the police are

increasing patrols as well. >> we have been working tirelessly as an investigation unit to bring this case to a close. >> reporter: detective cox says all three are now at the juvenile detention center aand awaiting charges. in pleasanton, kron 4 news. the former state senator yi is headed to prison for his involvement in a federal corruption probe into criminal activity in san francisco's chinatown. in an earlier plea agreement, yi admitted to receiving more than $40,000 in political favors and trying to broker an international arms deal with smuggled weapons. the 67-year-old politician today asked the court for leniency citing his public service, but the judge told yi he had abused the public's trust and sentenced him to five years. the prosecution had hoped for an eight-year sentence. another prominent player in the same corruption case, keith jackson, was also sentenced today. he was given nine years.

the former san francisco school board president had pleaded guilty to rabbit tearing charges which involved soliciting money for the former senator yi and the proposed sale of those illegal weapons. the case against jackson and yi came to light in a federal investigation into raymond shrimp boy chow. chow was found guilty of racketeering and murder back in january. there is much more ahead tonight. the police search for clues in a bizarre case of a torso found in fremont. what we're learning about the investigation. that's next at 5:00. plus -- what should have been a routine test drive in southern california ends tragically. the bay area connection is next. and yet another bay area family being forced from their home because of high rent. tonight how the heavy handed play claim their landlord -- tactic the landlord is using to force them out.

a deadly test drive. grant is here now with the charges a bay area now faces. grant? the guy here is from union city but he was in southern california apparently trying to buy a car. he was test driving a corvette but crashed it and is now being arrested for using drugs while he was driving that car. the witnesses say the guy behind the wheel of union city, was going about 70 when he lost control slam ing into that tree killing this man, the salesman, who was in the passenger seat of the corvette.

this was early yesterday afternoon in san bernardino county. the 43-year-old car max salesman is not being identified, but his former co- workers are remembering him. >> this test drive is something that we do. it is a normal thing. it is like -- so when i heard it, i had to come pay my respects because had it be me, warren would just be right here on the scene. >> and union city, he is being held on $100,000 bail. he is due in court tomorrow. and isis releases a new video. it threatens facebook founder mark zuckerberg and twitter ceo jack dorsey. the group says it is not happy that the social networks are taking down the isis accounts. in the video, the group claims that it will take 10 accounts for every one that facebook or twitter shuts down. it also claims it will eventually delete the site entirely. the video also shows zuckerberg

and dorsey photographs riddled with bullet holes. the attorney general loretta lynch is apparently supporting the federal government's demand that apple unlock a san bernardino terrorist' phone. she did not mention apple by name in testimony, but she did say judges have the authority to tell third parties to help the government in its search for evidence in criminal cases. >> it is an -- if an independent judge finds reason to believe take a certain item contains evidence of a crime, then that judge can authorize the government to conduct a limited search for the evidence. we owe it to the victims and to the public whose safety we must protect to ensure we have done everything under the law to fully investigate terrorist attacks on american soil. the prosecutors in phoenix, meantime, are boycotting apple's iphones that is because of the company's legal fight with the fbi over accessing that locked iphone used by the gunman in the san bernardino mass shootings.

a maricopa county attorney says his office will discontinue providing iphones as replacements or upgrades for existing employees. the prosecutor's office says apple's stance puts the company on the side of terrorists, not public safety. well, the stories are out there, stories about rising rents and evictions all across the bay area. in this latest edition of our my kron 4 story, our reporter tells you about the right of one south bay family who are suffering from what they say is the land lord's heavy handed tactics. jessica sewell says being evicted one thing but now she is quite literally losing the roof over her head. >> and when i'm talking -- walking around my house, they're up there. it just doesn't feel very safe. it is an invasion of privacy

really. >> reporter: she and her 9-year- old son and the neighbors in this four plex were given their required 60-day notices to move out. she understands the $1,600 rent is well below market for the area but says she got no warning their building would be getting a new roof during that time. >> and to be given such short term notice on the following days to not really be able to be in your home during day time because -- you can't be heard. >> reporter: she show -- she showed me the daylight coming through holes in her kitchen ceiling and attic and where dust and nails and paint and other debris are now raining down on their two-bedroom apartment. >> anything before 1978 was done with lead paint, which is extremely harmful for children, and they're supposed to give us 30 days' notice so i can move my child off of the premises. >> reporter: she says she is look ing into hiring an attorney, but the fact that her

lease is month to month now and her rent is not subsidized, legal action may be out of the question. >> tenants should have rights, and to just be dismissed and think of our home as a business opportunity it is heartbreaking because we still live here, and i still pay rent to have a roof over my head. >> reporter: the landlord did not immediately respond the our request for comment. in the meantime, she is heading for a motel and if she can't find an affordable new apartment, she like so many other renters may be forced to leave the bay area. >> i just -- it is start of hard for all of the tenants to wrap our head around how quickly everything has happened. we have just been thrown out ton streets and they're redoing the place. we have all spoken to the new land lords. it doesn't matter. >> if you have a story idea you would like us to look into, just go to kron 4.com, our web sites, and click on the my kron 4 story tab.

breaking news tonight, there is a strange twist in a search for a missing brisbane woman. kron 4 has learned moments ago that the woman's husband has died. grant is here with what we have just learned. grant? this is strange. it is strange and these are two big stories that we have been following that new appear to be connected. he is just dead from an apparent suicide jumping from bay bridge. the husband, the 57-year-old paul titcher in, his wife shelly titcher in, who you see right there. shelly went missing back on february 13th. we were interviewing paul last night about his wife's disappearance, and he told justine that the two had a disagreement the night she left and he told her that she was -- said she was going to stay with a friend. and the police confirmed that late last night paul titcher in committed sz, again, jump -- suicide, again, jumping off the

bay bridge. he was not named a suspect but a person of interest in his wife's disappearance. the police cannot confirm that the torso found sunday near the dumbarton pier is that of shelly, but they're certainly not ruling it out that torso was found sunday night. fishermen spotted it, and then just last night additional evidence connected to the case was found in this area there in fremont right by the dumb bar kahn bridge. a lot of moving parts here and we're gathering information. we have multiple reporters trying to sort all of this out. we'll update you as we learn more always on kron4.com. pam? oh. we're going to shift gears just a bit here and check in on our weather. another beautiful and warm day all across the bay area. brittany is on the weather deck outside there. is it still nice at this hour? >> reporter: it is still pretty nice, although it is a built breezy with the wind speed at 14 miles per hour and our temperatures tonight are going to drop quickly into the 50s so

you definitely want to bring a jacket if you're staying out late tonight. we will, however, see warmer temperatures tomorrow, even warmer than what we saw today. we have -- got kind of close to the record. we were still agent eight degrees away from tying any records today, but about six degrees above average. here is a closer look now at our three things you should know. number one, a warmer thursday is on tap. our peak temperature also be tomorrow and then a slightly cooler temperature is on tap for us. we still have a high surf advisory which will stay in effect until 9:00 p.m. we expect to see sneaker waves and large swells so you want to be careful near the water. >> we only have a slight chance of rain and that is mainly for the northern part of the north bay friday evening. but the temperatures right now show us 69 degrees in santa rosa. and 70s in sunnyvale. 73 in antioch. and the high surf advisory staying in effect tonight until 9:00 for swells up to 14 feet. so, again, be very careful.

make a full recovery. pam? a driver in tampa bay steps into action when he see as fedex driver drifting out of its lane. >> come on. pull over, dude. it is all right. just pull over. >> when the driver pulled up next to him, he noticed the fedex driver's head was down. he tried honking his horn and yelling to get the driver's attention. the driver of the truck sped up and careened out of control into the median and nearly into oncoming traffic. somehow he was able to talk that fedex driver into pulling over. >> i thought he was going to run head-on into a car coming in the bestbound lane. i think i saved lives that day, in the only somebody else's life, but i think i saved this guy's life. >> it is unclear if the driver was nodding off, was impaired or had a medical emergency. the police are investigating the incident. still ahead at 5:00, the fight to replace the late justice antonin scalia. next, the republican the white house may be vetting for the

republican presidential nomination, donald trump is seemingly unstoppable heading. >> the multistate super tuesday primary he racked up another win. grant is here to tell us how last night's nevada daubing caucuses reshaped things. >> reporter: nothing like a trump train. >> it does. >> reporter: and he loves this. and talked about winning and business and all the other stuff but voters in alaska and a dozen other states are going to make their decisions next tuesday. super tuesday and almost all of those contests are heavily weighted towards donald trump. >> we won evangelicals and won with young and won with old we won with highly educated. we won with poorly educated i love the poorly educated. >> reporter: trump's margin of victory was as he put it huge. 46% of all caucus goers more than ted cruz and marco rubio combined. 45% of latinos, who made up 1

in 12 caucus goers. and 40% of evan jell cas way more than -- evangelicals more than ted cruise who was in texas picking up the endorsement of governor abbott. he is in a virtual tie with trum with rubio behind. -- trump with rubio behind. harry reid through his support to hillary clinton. >> i the middle class would be better served by hillary. >> reporter: the ver moppet senator is trailing in the polls but says it's too early to hand nomination to clinton. >> this is a race. you have to get 2400 delegates. 2400 delegates. so we are in this race to win it and i think we are going to pull off one of the great political upsets. >> reporter: hillary clinton is favored to win most of the super tuesday state shown in red here.

polls show sand airs head in two native vermont and nearby massachusetts. pam. >> president obama may be looking at a republican to replace the late supreme court justice antonin scalia. our coverage partners at cnn reports nevada governor is being veted by the white house for a possible nomination. sandoval is a former federal judge and card moderate republican. a spokesperson says neither the governor nor his staff have talked with the white house about the vacancy on the high court. senate republicans said they won't hold confirmation hearings on whom ever the president selects as nominee. i am on the kron 4 weather deck. another beautiful day temperatures above average for us. we didn't tie or break records but we will have another try tomorrow as temperatures warm with high pressure building over our area. let's look closer at your

temperatures right now. it's going to be a pretty nice evening out. but we will cool quickly closer to 9 p.m. and breezy conditions will make it feel cooler outside as well. 64 in san francisco currently. 62 in dealy city. satellite radar shot shows area of high pressure we know it's there because you are not seeing any clouds and we saw lots of sunshine today. and the exception is we go into tomorrow as we will see a few more high thin clouds. futurecast 4 shows us exactly how everything is going to time out. so as we go through the day tomorrow, we will see warmer weather and this is going to be the warmest day of the week. you can see the clouds are going to struggling to make it onshore but eventually we will see mostly cloudy skies thursday night into friday and this is what we are tracking as we head into friday afternoon. a slight chance to see rain closer to santa rosa and northern parts of the north bay. we don't expect the rain to transition down to san francisco or even to south bay or the east bay. if it does it will be a few passing sprinkles.

other than that i am tracking what's in store for your weekendp that's coming up in the 7-day forecast at 5:45. we will send it back to you in the studio he. all right. brittany the east coast is on a storm watch tonight as powerful winds hail and tornadoes move through florida and the mid atlantic. the latest round of severe weather has killed 5 people and caused widespread damage. cnn and drew spencer has more. >> reporter: from pensacola florida to garland texas, parts of the southeastern united states are recovering from severe storms and tornadoes. >> i will tell you what, for 30 seconds it was like a nightmare. >> it was so sudden. >> reporter: the national weather service says it received 27 reports tornadoes touching down across the area. >> see that. >> oh my gosh. >> reporter: people in this louisiana gym watched as the storms peeled off the roof. >> when the weather gets so bad the roof your gym and the wall

around 9. we are hearing this information is coming in from the fremont police department. you can see the missing posters for his wife shelly are posted around the neighborhood. what i can tell you is there's much an active investigation. let's take video and you can see the police are still here at the tishner home but what's remarkable we can't draw one conclusion definitively but the fremont police department is the police department that is heading up this investigation. they are here on scene and neighbors say that they got here before the police department here so there's interest in that torso found earlier in the week reportedly by the dumb barten bridge in fremont. there's an active investigation and we are just getting new information here and we are collecting this and talking to neighbors here and we will be back here in a half an hour to tell you what they have to say but for now report being live

even after enduring the worst season of his career colin kaepernick is not going anywhere. san francisco 49ers management announced today that the team is holding onto its former franchise quarterback. mark carpenter he has been tracking the story and joins us now with the details and this was a very different conversation what a while back. >> yeah it is 180 and reverse how the narrative changed and back in november the question was if he would play another down with the 49ers. the reason we asked was because of a clause in the contract that says if he is on the the team's roster by april 1 isst he is due millions in base salary. and even through a season that saw him get french the capper

cool things down a little bit. but it's going to be warm out. here's a live look outside right now. sun is slowly starting to set and you see a few high thin clouds plenty of sunshine today and high pressure will stay in control. at least through tomorrow. friday doesn't see changes right now we are at 72 in napa. 68 in san mateo. 65 in hayward concord at 68 so it's another warm day the average at the san francisco airport low 60s instead today the official high was 67 degrees. we saw the high surf advisory that will stay in eke if text for swells 11 to 14 feet so be careful if you plan to go near the water. sattelite radar show shot shows high pressure is in control and it will stay in control until a weak weather disturbance moves in heading into friday. here's what we expect as we push into thursday. lots of is sunshine you notice some of the clouds here going to have a tough time even moving onshore. that won't happen until overnight on thursday heading

into the early morning hours on friday. by 4 p.m. on friday, this is what we are tracking. this weak weather disturbance will give us a chance of light rainfall near santa rosa and possibly a few showers will transition closer to the south bay and also san francisco by friday evening. saturday, sunday looks fantastic lots of is sunshine expected for us. highs around the region will break it down starting off in the east bay. 73 in oakland tomorrow. 76 in union city. 76 degrees in fremont tomorrow and to the north bay 75 in santa rosa and 73 petaluma and 73 in mill valley. closer to the peninsula 71 the high in san francisco. 75 in palo alto. and then in the south bay some of the temperatures are going to get pretty close to 80 degrees. 77 in campbell. 77 lows gatos and 7-day forecast shows it's going to be the peak in the temperatures and as we head into friday the weather disturbance will bring us a slight chance of rain to the north bay but will help drop temperatures back to the 60s and we will stay there

heading into the weekend. you have likely heard adults need at least 7 hours of sleep but more than 1/3 of americans are getting less than that. from our partnership at cnn mary maloney explains why we should all sleep a lot more. >> reporter: start snoozing. people between the ages of 18 and 16 need to sleep at least 7 hours a night. that's according to two major sleep related associations. but a national survey by the cdc shows more than 1/3 of us sleep less than 7 hours. that's problem. here's why. researcher shows the less sleep the more risk you have for obesity diabetes heart disease and mental illness to make sure you get enough shut eye stoic a schedule. go to bed and wake up at the i'm times each day including weekend. keep the room dark term the thermostat low and get rid of electronics. put the phone away. before bed, don't eat a big

he jumped off the bay bridge at 8:47 last night. paul told me that shelly tishner leive left home saturday february 13th and of they -- after they got into a disagreement and said she left upset and that should have been a red flag. he reported her missing on monday the 15th and he told me that she didn't pick her cell phone or laptop or car or medication for bipolar disorder and depression and that made her at risk according to the brisbane police. so i asked paul last night if he could think of anyone who might have wanted to hurt his wife and here is the answer. are you wordied someone might have hurt her? >> you know, when you don't hear from someone for a week that very social person yes, i mean you have to be concerned issomething may have happened. the hope of course is she is mentally impaired and is somewhere and unable to contact us but you know the family is realistic and we are hoping for
